Hi All,

Can anyone tell me, or better still upload a photo of the location of the bonnet switch on the Freelander 1? I'm trying to locate the cause the horn beeping once when the car is locked (indicating a mislock). I suspect the bonnet switch is a great place to start - but, i can't find it (perhaps that's the problem!).

I expect it is very obvious, any help appreciated.

Back of the bonnet aperture on the RHS of the vehicle. I've arrowed it in the picture. It's the convoluted rubber plunger.

Thanks both, and Nodge68 for the excellent photo. There was me looking at the front end of the bonnet - so this helped. Disconnected the switch, and still i get the annoying single beep when locking. I noticed that the front driver side door, and the rear passenger side door won't unlock with the fob, I've ordered new (salvage) locking mechanisms for both as they were dirt cheap, so cheap it wasn't worth trying to clean / investigate - so perhaps the mis-lock i'm having is related. Also, the tailgate window regulator (new one ordered) has given up (motor seems fine) but cables are banging around doing nothing in the tailgate itself - so perhaps something here isn't happy regards the mis-lock?

I've read other threads on this - nothing conclusive, so will try these three things first and see where we end up - any comments, advice welcomed.

It's probably the tail door causing the problem. When you get the window sorted don't be surprised if the boot door lock has an issue too as they are ropy on a good day.
 
Thanks Alibro - i do love a Ropey Landrover. The handle / and lock appears to be working...but i love a good bit of mechanicing in the rain so no big deal if it needs to be replaced. It was a cheap motor, 02 plate, 75,000 miles TD4, one lady owner - so as a work wagon it's ideal.

LOL, in that case you should buy a Vauxhall! I've spent nearly a grand on parts alone for my 08 Zafira since Christmas. :eek:
Thankfully I bought it cheap but it ain't a cheap car now. :( I've had 4 Freelanders in the last couple of years and never spent anything like that on any of them. One was bought with a duff clutch and it still cost less to sort out.
 
Disconnecting the bonnet switch will still give you a warning honk. I'm sure the switch is normally closed, so unplugging it is the same as pushing the plunger down. I'll check that an report back.
