The Wipac or the RDX sets are ok, these are complete sealed units (don't bother with the LED bulbs). They are nice and bright and look reasonably stock. I got the RDX ones last year, fitting was straightforward and I've had no probs. You get a replacement flasher relay as they will flash too fast without it.

Some of the bulbs you get on ebay say they are stop and tail lights but they are stop or tail lights. Even though they have two contacts on the back they only have one brightness.
I have indicators, side lights & stop and tail in LED. They are a bit bright in my opinion and having plastic lenses (yes the cheap ones) I am waiting for the day when Mr MOT man begins screwing his face up at the colour. I glued a ten pence piece inside the stop/tail lens to stop those behind needing sun glasses but ones fell off now and Ive run out of bothered (they are the ceramic ones with a magnifying glass on the end) .
The front side lights are the cool bright ones and look crap on a series. I did try and tone the front ones down to a similar golden yellow like the original headlights by putting half a Kinder egg over the bulb (you know the yellow bit that the toy comes in) but the light is so blue the result was a dirty green glow. When I get my second paper round and have saved up I will try the warm light LEDs but that may be upto 1000 hours away.
As for the all in one unit with several little LEDs in em.................................................

I only replaced the bulbs with LEDs coz I was sick of constantly replacing normal ones after a few months. They dont seem to make em last anymore.
I did get hold of some side indicator lights for trucks with little dome lenses in them and was hoping to cut out just the yellow lens and sit them over the bulbs inside but another job awaiting some bothered.

Not so much the brightness but the colour.
Screaming neon white just aint a trattor......................unless your called Victoria Beckham.
They do bulbs in warm white. But I havnt tried them. Most LEDs come in a variety of 'temperatures' or what ever they call the colours.
What are my choices with the alternator?

Standard is about 35amp I think. I got a 75amp off L Bowers via ebay for £60 and it works very well.

They do go much higher ampage wise but unless your running winches and the like you probably wont need them.

Just had a quick look and the alternator off a Sherpa van is an option?? Not sure what the output is though.

That will add umph but both will run everything so both will drain equally on continued starting or continued lighting ect.
Most people put a split charge system in. This separates the starting and auxiliary lighting ect so that if you flatten the auxiliary battery you can still start the engine. Both charge when the engine is running. @The Mad Hat Man wrote a terrible piece on the subject (dont tell him it was good)
If you go down this rout, shop around. You can buy kits but they work out very expensive. Mine cost about £30 all in excluding the leisure battery.
I now have a starter battery and a leisure battery to run heating, alarm, tracker, central locking, radio controlled heater switching gear and auxiliary lighting. That way if mr burglear gets in the engine bay and disconnects the main battery everything still works. It will also take him a few hours to discover and strip out half the car to get at the other one. Its not under the seat in my case.
