Hi folks
I've been stumped again by my local garage and they still cant find the problem with our "S" reg freelander.
Almost since the day we've had it (just over 2 years) weve had this issue.
I'll describe the issues and hope that someone here knows something about what it could be -
1. When driving and the engine is warm / up to temperature, if I back my foot off the accelarator slighly, the power drops off (almost like a stall) and the engine warning light flickers. I can repeat this issue many times once its warmed up, but the light only flickers and doesnt stay on. I took the car back to the garage and they confirmed the only error code that came up new was 132 (I think) - I think this said something about the potentiometer, which was replaced 2 years ago but did not solve the issue then either. Cost me £600 at the time.
2. Driving home one night, the engine started revving on its own when I came to a stop. It seemed to go up and down to about 2,000 rpm and (here's the weird bit
) when I pressed the brake, it came down. On this day, the car drove really rough - not mechanically (as in the engine) - but with accelarator control. I had to rev it quite high to get it to move off from a stop and the fault above was really really bad. Almost thought it was going to break down.
3. The garage said code 17 was on all the time and wouldnt clear - I think he said it was an air temperature sensor.
4. Not sure if related, but the night that the engine was revving, the water temperature gauge started flicking between off (completely) and average tempature - nothing in between, it was off or on.
Not sure on these codes as the text I saw doesnt tally with some of the OBD codes I've seen around the web. I think it was a Bosch hand held machine he plugged in.
This car is getting near the scrap yard - these faults are driving me mad. Its a real shame as its in reasonable condidtion and just been MOT'd.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Corrie
