Am changing the battery on the L322, I intend to attach a booster battery to the remote battery terminals so as not to cause all the resetting hassle when you disconnect the actual terminals. Has anybody tried this? Is there anything I should know?
i do this on all cars we get in to save problems if they havnt got the codes but never a 322, done plenty of p38s though. i cant see it causing any problems.
What are the 'resetting hassles' that you are referring to?
There's only one thing you have to do when you disconnect & subsequently reconnect the battery & that's to turn the steering wheel to full lock in each direction after starting the engine, to reset the steering position sensors.
Of course you should wait two minutes after removing the ignition key before removing the -ve lead to protect the sat nav & fuel gauge systems.
Thanks for the advice gents, the hassles I was thinking of were: alarm, window reset, sunroof reset, pyrotechnic device on positive terminal and anything else that a vehicle of such huge compexity can dream up!
