no drive from cold, goes eventually,no kickdown at all,can get it to drive ok in low ratio and reverse, trickles away in first, marginally better in second, wont go uphill from stanstill, however once rolling will do 80/90 ok.
does feel asthough the clutch is slipping.
is it worth trying oil and filter change first.
had it on hella diagnostics and there were several faults
2nd and third gear gear not engaging, implauseable signal etc

i think im grasping at straws thinking its might be something else except the box

sounds like time to ask for an overdraft of unsubstantial amounts. speak to wil2813. he'll tell you the symptoms he had. but sounds very familiar.

p38 or l322 petrol or derv

sorry guys td6 04/04 done 77k genuine miles aswell
oh deary me:( firstly dont drive it anymore imo, pm hippo and get oil and filters changed he will talk you through it and its got to be worth a try first.if your torque converter is breaking up it will destroy the gearbox leading to loss of forward gears except top and reverse.if it bangs into top gear and converter fractures gearbox it will be un-reconditionable and be rendered scrap.ps always change geabox oil cooler aswell which is mounted on bottom of radiator

If its that bad it will be a waste of money changing the filter and oil.it may work again for a short while ,and then leave you stranded somewhere, best to just get it reconditioned, and put new torque convertor in,at the same time, and flush out oil cooler and pipes with clean oil,

on the L322, its always advisable to change the oil cooler. the internals of the valve block get caught in the veins and dont come out.

possibly but worth a go as he does still have forward gears at moment, it will only cost you about £200 to service it inc cooler.mine cost me £2150 recon after totall failure:(

That 200 quid will go towards the cost of the recon box and torque converter and oil if its already slipping the damage is done.doing a service on it will probably help for a very short while.the torque converter is already knackered my advice is do it now before it lets you down on the motorway leaving you stranded.as for the oil cooler, each to their own , but I would just give it a good flush .forward and reverse flush it. Or could even take it off put petrol in it and give it a good shake till it comes out clean then flush clean oil through it with a pump.
