Opposite problem from many - got an earthing problem on the interior light which means it's always on when the switch is in the middle position. For a while it only flickered on when going over bumps but is now on permanently, so it looks like a loose connection catching on the bodywork somewhere.

Unfortunately the alarm triggers when the same circuit earths so I'm annoying the neighbours.

Before I start tearing things apart, any suggestions on where the most likely place is? I'm guessing the wires on the back of the door pillar switch or inside the light unit.

Yea. I'd look at the switches in the doors. The interior light works by switching earth though, so really it could be anywhere.

Does sound like a loose wire, that was loose and now is free ;)
 
as a temp measure, take the bulb out, alarm wont trigger ona door opening, but its preferable to annoying the naighbours, and the sensors will still work.
 
1995 300tdi 110 SW. It's had a replacement bulkhead and doors off a TD5, so it's got some extras.

Think the door switches may have come in with the 300tdi.
 
oh, mines got door switches, and the alarm used to go off when you opened them without turning the alarm off, lights have never worked off the doors though, its on my roundtuit.
 
Just out of curiosity does the interior light share it's circuit, If indeed it does what with.?!
 
The factory fit alarm (if it's there) is on the same circuit and fuses. Possibly also the gauge lights on the dash.
