Really strange one for you, on my disco 2 td5 automatic 2001, the engine can start and run as normal no problem other than 3 amigos and recently just come on downhill control, however the other day i noticed it stalling a bit and then cut out suddenly. i found out that when i pull the panel which is touching the side exit exhaust on the rear left of vehicle off of the exhaust so no contact is being made, the entire truck shorts out and will not provide any form of electric at all, almost like im breaking the circuit? following on from this, a couple weeks ago i found a black wire dangling by the front right wheel, which i earthed on the earth points behind the battery next to the ECU and put it onto the bottom earthing point out of the three. when this is connected, the truck will short out when i move the panel off the exhaust, however when it is not earthed, the truck will not cut out when the panel is moved but still will make a spark when touching the exhaust. the mystery black earth wire goes down under the battery and i cant seem to chase it. any help will be really appreciated because i am at a loss.
