Well its still there lol but the wire was snapped after going over some branches ages ago and I haven't put it back together yet. Tried to find the ends earlier but ill have a better look in daylight, tis a mess under there with oil, grease and whatnot
 
You can get a bit of wind up that makes them not want to come out of diff lock. Reversing for a while in a bit of a zig zag has always fixed it for me in the past, obviously you need the linkage adjusted correctly for that to work

stick a prop on, get down to mine and we'll spend a day fiddling... oooeeer
 
If the tbox is stuck in diff lock then you need to leave one prop off until you get it sorted otherwise you will wind it up, it doesn't do your tbox / diffs any good leaving it locked and driving on tarmac.
 
Got both props fitted but I need to get it out of diff lock. Tried the old reverse trick, did it again tonight too but it doesn't seem to make any difference whatsoever. I'll try zigzagging tommorow though and see what that does. Any other tips for getting it out?
 
try unscrewing switch a little if that doesnt work remove the 3 bolt housing under spigot lever on spigot might have come out of slot in selector shaft
 
It feels like the spigot is moving against spring pressure but only very slightly and moved freely enough using the spanner. I might do what you said and get the cover off and see if its came free from the slot
 
James this is the best pic I could get of the pivot shaft and arm broken down. If I remove this what would I be looking for for it to be stuck in lock?

the tab on bottom of spigot shaft sits in a slot in selector shaft or should do ,have you treid undoing the switch ,diff lock is a collar that engages when pushed forwards and disengages when pushed backwards
 
I havent had a look at the switch yet. Where could i find it? These army publications are good for individual breakdown of parts but they dont tell you where they are located lol
 
Ta, ill have a look at switch at lunchtime. If unscrewing the switch doesnt make a difference and i then have to look at the spigot is it just a case of lifting it out and slotting it back in correctly?
 
yes but you can lever selector shaft both ways to see what happens whilst 1 front wheel is jacked up so you can rotate back and forth front prop to align teeth if necessary, the actual selector fork isnt secured to shaft but pushed/pulled by a spring on shaft ,this is so that when you select lock ,locking collar itself is tensioned and will engage when diff and front output shaft teeth align this enables you to select lock whilst vehicle is moving and like wise for disengagement, switch which has a spring plunger sits directly on selector fork when lock is engaged if its wound in too far or jams it can stop fork moving
 
I thought it was but after ive refitted the front prop and diff it seems to be a-ok :s which is strange. Right i had a look and i loosened the switch off a bit as best i could, pain in the arse when lying underneath on the road and everythings filthy. Didnt seem to make any difference. I jack up the front right wheel and with the gear lever in neutral and transfer box lever out of diff lock it will only rotate so far forwards and back until play is taken up, transfer box lever in diff lock and in neutral is the same. With both front wheels up they will rotate freely albeit in opposite directions as they should. If i start the engine and put it in first with transfer box in neutral then it wont move so the linkage is definitely doing something. If one wheel isnt rotating when its jacked up then its in diff lock right? So whats going on :s. I loosened off the spigot nut a fair bit more and felt a spring ease up (best way i can describe it) and tightened it back up just enough. Any more ideas?

Trax i wouldnt mind taking you up on your offer of having a look at is as im totally stumped, youre just a bit out of the way is all :(
 
Yes, as I showed in the video yesterday, you should be able to rotate one wheel if all diffs are open.
I reckon you either have massive transmission wind-up, or you've knackered the centre diff. By reversing backwards yesterday side to side it should have encouraged the front and back wheels to turn at a slightly different speed, thus encouraging the centre diff to unlock if it had no spring pressure holding it in (ie the linkage was in correct place etc). Ideally you want to do this on gravel/mud so the wheels can slip and avoid further wind-up, I had to be fairly aggressive with my old truck when doing this to get it to pop out after a days pay and play.

As said there is a chance that the centre diff (transfer box) has failed, I've heard of them (I think) overheating and almost welding themselves into difflock, in which case you're buggered!

Whatever it is, carrying on driving (forwards) on tarmac roads with both props on in difflock is only going to make things worse

if your lt230 is borked, i have a 1.2 or 1.6 here.

i'm not an expert with the lt77 or lt230 mind, so don't blame me if we can't figure it out :D

i'm around on sunday, so if you don't sort it by then and want to, you can come over
 
Ill give it another go driving backwards and getting the wheels to turn at slightly different speeds as my initial attempt maybe wasnt sufficient lol i dont have a lot of space to manuevre where i live. I'll have a look for a long empty road down an industrial estate somewhere, hopefully thatll do the job.

Traxy baby do you still have that transfer box lol i might need to pop over and get that off you if i cant sort this mess.

Must have replied at the same time as you. No problem, ill let you know and if we cant get it sorted ill probably have the 1.2 off you :). oh and im definitely no expert but two amateurs make a professional dont they? :D
