I have tried a :search:but I can't find it. The Haynes manual doesn't seem to have it either.

Approx how much fluid do you need to bleed the system?
 
I would go to the furthest wheel and bleed the approx volume of the master cylinder plus 4 or 5 pumps, then 9 or 10 pumps per wheel should do it..
 
I used 1 litre. Using the bleed sequence advised, it seemed to pull through clean liquid in all caliper bleeds. I have seen another website claiming "three quarts" if you're filling a system from completely empty!
 
500ml eh?, probably just enough to do the bike:)


Keep the bottle air tight and will it last.

I did my D1 two years ago, thats about what I had over and I made sure there were no traces of the old stuff coming out the bleed nipples.

Filled up an old 2ltr drinks bottle 3/4 full with two inches of clear stuff on the top after it had all settled down, it hadn't been done for eight years.
