Hi all first post.

I am currently looking for a freelander but have no knowledge of the car or models etc. I have heard that the petrols are rubbish and that the diesel is the way to go.
Can anyone give me the low down about what to and what not to buy and any obvious things to look and check for on test drives.

I have a budget of around 6k.

The petrols aren't rubbish but they are prone to significant, expensive problems. I concurr, TD4 is the pick of the bunch.
