Looking for advice from experts, we are contemplating buying a Range/Rover 2.5 Diesel Auto P reg, I have been told that it should be bought with care as its got 120,000 on the clock, is there anything to look out for or should it be avoided altogether, would appreciate some help
the guys wot seem to know dont reckon the 2.5 RR - but yu mite get better answers in the RR section.

try asking down in the range rover section or do a search in there - there's plenty of info about buying a range rover & what to look for.
Generally, mileage should not be a problem as the BMW diesel engine is pretty solid - BUT it is generally accepted that it is underpowered for the size of the range rover - can be a bit gutless. FSH is essential & there are a lot of electronics to go wrong on a range rover - many of which cannot be solved without Testbook (main dealer job - & expensive). consider a Discovery as an alternative - top of the range ES models are just as nice inside as a range rover.

just my opinion really - depends what you want if for - if your looking for something for serious off road work - go for a defender or series / 90/110
avoid Freelander at all costs - just ask MHM
I originally wanted a range rover - always wanted one really - but started looking around & lots of them seemed to various faults - mainly to do with the electrics & air suspension - HEVAC units are a regular problem (heating & air con) - electronic air suspension is another regular failure - I did lots of research on here & looked at a few , but then started looking at Disco's as an alternative - eventually settled on a Discovery TD5 ES (top spec with electric seats , climate control, full leather & wood interior) - all the luxury of the Range Rover but a lot more reliable. - mine's a 2001 series II model but the series I Tdi models are just as good and luxurious if you get the ES spec & they dont have all the electronics to go wrong like a range rover. I tested a few 2.5DSE's & they are a bit gutless unless it has a chip or powerbox fitted.

If you must have a range rover - get one with a warranty or purchase an after-market warranty because it WILL go wrong & it COULD be expensive
Yes this exactly what our dealer freind told us, he said he sold one couple of months age and had to pay 1400 quid for a heater, he says they are frought with problems and the only time he would consider it if it had unusually low mileage , thanks for the advice
