In either case it's worth replacing the cylinder then. Pattern or OEM ? Will order one tomorrow....
 
Being honest not something I'd want to attempt not really knowing what I'm doing / not having attempted before. It isn't my daily so I'm not stuck so can wait until I've got a hand to sort.
 
Located immediately above where the pipe goes into the slave, there should be a bleed nipple which you should be able to undo half a turn to allow air and/or fluid to come out of the end of it.
And you can't damage anything whilst doing it, which is why it was suggested earlier to bleed the system before doing anything else.

beware - sometimes they are fitted upside down, incorrectly, with the bleed nipple underneath.

Couldn't see a bleed nipple, only a six sided bolt with the pipe connected to it that goes into the master itself ? Just starting to chuck it down now anyway :(
 
I'll apologise for my ignorance in advance, but what does it look like and where is it exactly ?
 
Down alongside the left hand side of the chassis, on the big aluminium bell housing there should be a bit of flexible pipe going from the chassis to a flat, round thing with what looks like a funny shaped bolt with a hole through the middle and a six-sided collar around the body of it, which allows you to fit a spanner or socket to it so that it can be tuirned.
That's the bleed nipple.
The other one is the pipe coupling to which the pipe from the clutch master cylinder on the bulkhead which feeds the slave with fluid.
Just undo the one that doesn't have any pipe attached to it.
 
sorry to hijack..
I'm having a similar problem. my clutch works fine but sometimes if I'm sat waiting at the lights in gear then go to put in neutral its stuck in gear... i then either keep my foot on the clutch and set off and its fine again or i have to cut her out and lift off the clutch, press back in again and its fine.

i thought it could of been air, so i bled the system.. i did this using the gravity fed way just keeping the the reservoir topped up as it was coming out the nipple underneath and all was fine till off roading then started again :(.

i have no leaks either, I'm thinking of just replacing master and slave and hoping this sorts it

any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks

guess its cheap enough isn't it for them anyways, save messing about wasting time as well. she's a 1988 so probably never been changed in her lifetime.. the list continues to grow haha:rolleyes:
