I have just bought some triple sport 17" alloys and have tried to put them on my 1.8 5 door and there seems to be grinding from the rear passenger side, I have took them back off and there is no marks on the alloy or drum itself?
Help me guys please?

Put them back on and see if they're catching with all 4 wheels on the ground. Peeps usually have problems at the front.

The car is a 1998 and I don't know what the wheels came off of as it was a private sale ( the guys dad died and had them in his shed for a while)
On the inside of the wheel it says....
Sl1206 speed line
7j x 17 ch-46
Galsi7mg
Rrc110450xxx
Don't know if any of this means anything to you all and thanks for the replys,
I did try driving with them on and that's when I heard the grinding and it was if the brakes were seazing on

Those parts are ok for your car as long as you have the correct brakes for the age of your car.

What size tyres are fitted to the rims?

You may have bent one of your disk guards!! Just prise it away from the disk a little bit !! Jack up the corner spin wheel find problem!!!

Hi crabbit - can you look at the chassis number of your car and what is the character before the A seven characters from the end

Any joy theve got to be rubbing somewhere jack it up and spin wheels and look and make sure they're done up even on the hub if all ok maybe rubbing on the shock or body just have to run it a little if u can't see nowt and look for any signs of rubbing job done!!

Guys I have gave up and have put them up for sale, I will just stick to the originals.
Thanks anyway for all the replys!!!!!!

fail.

Like I said.....
we are ****ing in the wind here - put them back on and see what is happening. No other way.

Car forums across the entire internet are full of threads like this...

"Halp, my car iz makin a funny noiz, LOL"

and then there are three pages of replies....

"Wheel bearings"
"tyre wear"
"big end knocking"
"sunroof seal is loose"
"deffo wheel bearings, same thing happened to my dads brother in law's drinking buddys Hillman Husky"
"exzorst is rubbing"

It is simply not possible for us to help you unless you help us (and yourself) first.
Front or rear? you havent even cleared that up yet.
What sort of noise? metallic grating? plastic chaffing? whirring? thumping? knocking?
Are the wheels in good condition? not buckled or egged? are the tyres ok? no bulges or splits? even wear?
Are they fitted properly? mating faces clean? Seated square on the hub? nuts torqued properly?
Is something touching the wheel? plastic wheel arch liner? caliper? flexi hose? abs wiring?
Are the wheels touching the suspension strut?
Does the rubbing happen at all speeds? straight lines? turning corners?

A rubbing noise happening when you fit a wheel, that goes away when you put the originals back on should take anyone with a pair of functioning eyeballs 30 seconds to diagnose. If you cant, then at least tell us what we need to diagnose it for you as I cant quite seem to see your car from where I am sitting.
