Reet here we go, Im after some direction or ideas or general assistance in keeping the dummy in and the lip from quivering.
The problem is I have a Detroit locker in the rear of the disco, and its a lovely bit of kit and has taken a hell of a lot of abuse and just keeps going, quite recently (less than six months ago) bought some Insa Special Tracks in a 235/85 flavour and they also are lovely and very grippy in the sticky stuff but this is where the problem is- they are too grippy and i have now snapped both halfshafts in the last 3 months.
My dilemma is if i upgrade to HD shafts a la Ashcrofts then im sure the Detroit will get destroyed as there wont be a weak link between the wheels and the diff any longer-never mind the fact that they are well pricey too
, but could it just be that the halfshafts that were in were getting on a bit and they were weakend and due to go:scratching_chin:- so do i replace with standards??
OR
Do i get rid of the special tracks and go for something a bit bigger, as im disappointed with the size of the specials- they are an inch shorter than the same size tyres i had on before- but with a slightly less aggressive pattern thus meaning i can replace the shafts with standards and hopefully i wont shear those with such frequency as the current combination???
If im totally honest im leaning towards selling the specials and getting something like a kumho or BFG mud 275 ish.
oh and the annual technical test is due on the 2nd of october so whatever i do it looks like i have to do it soon
come on help me out here i really cant decide.
