anyone recommend a brand or a clutch kit for my 1998 300tdi discovery? also where to buy one, im gona get a hd clutch release fork also so any recomendations on brand and where to purchase :) consider delivery costs also, if i can get clutch and fork with free delivery from one place rather than one from say paddock and the other from ebay? dont want to pay double deliverys :D

I fitted a hd ****part clutch and it failed after 1 week..

a company called precision clutches in henstridge made me a proper hd clutch bespoke with extra springs in the plate,,heavier duty back plate and release bearing for £130

most so called hd clutches for sale are just a standard clutch with a clutch fork with a bit welded on to stop the wear thru

Any of the forks with the plate welded across the back should be fine, just avoid Britpart.

I just weld my own HD plate on.

As for the clutch get a Defender HD kit - Borg and Beck are good.

Yes Borg and Beck or the company that took them over (AP Driveline), if you don't weld like I don't it's only a couple of extra quid for the HD fork, get it.

I had to change everything and it was just the fork that was busted, there was no point doing all that work and not changing the clutch though.

I got everything from paddocks, £65 for the clutch £9 for the HD Fork, prices not including VAT

I had to get my fork in a hurry and couldn't get a HD one, so I welded two layers of 0.8mm over the indent. Hope it holds up!

I would have fitted a whole new clutch at the time, but needed it back on the road rapid and didn't have access to a clutch alignment tool. Then, the day after I fitted the new fork, an army fitter told me that they just used a 15mm socket and extension!
