Will a 5 speed box that is mated to a VM diesel mate to a V8 their is a converion plate on VM engine

If it's a standard RR gearbox, which it should be and an LT77 guessing by the VM engine, then yes a V8 should fit on. Might want to check clutch bearings, release fork etc as may be slightly different.
Do you have a parts manual for the correct year, that should give you an indication compatibility via the part numbers.
