I've got a bit of a project D2 auto and the two green cogs have started flashing, I've plugged in a Hawkeye and it shows P0748 which I believe is a pressure solenoid in the gearbox. I've dropped the oil and the magnet was quite clean with only fine stuff on it but the oil was quite dark but doesn't smell. Any idea where this solenoid might lie and how to test it before I put everything back together or any other culprits I can look at.
The gear change was quite harsh but it now goes almost immediately into limp mode.

Come back 300tdi all is forgiven:oops:

Thanks in advance....

Also when it comes to gearboxes treat me as a duffer:D Engines and everything else I'm OK with but I have no experience of gearboxes especially automatic ones:oops:

P0748 is about MV4 solenoid, nr 2 in the scheme but it can be a problem with chaffed wire in the harness to it cos it's quite common

Where the gearbox harness passes above the transfer box
I've had a fiddle but can't see owt. I've changed the oil and took it for a spin and it still does it. They start flashing after a few gear changes but if you turn the engine off, start it again, put it in reverse for a couple of feet then drive off it starts off in third then changes down to first and the whole process off again
