HI I'm having gear issues, I can get any gear whilst the engine is running, I can get gear when the engine is off but the I can't turn the engine on?

Any suggestions??

Edit your post it does not make sense if you can engage all gears what is your problem?
Have you just bought it if so has it stood for awhile as clutch plate possibly stuck to flywheel.

Yeah I brought week ago, drove back about 25 miles fine, however had issues the next morning, It's only done 17,000 miles so hasn't been used for a while, I've checked whether it was in neutral, two and four wheel drive and nothing engaging

Still doesn't make sense to me.
If the gear engage with the engine off I.e can you push it with the thing in gear, then doesn't that mean that it's the clutch not disengaging rather than a gear problem?

Please look at your first post and edit it again to make it clearer.

You can engage gears when running and when not running but can't turn the engine on? Then you suggest you have no drive?

Difficult to help if we don't understand the symptoms

Does that clear it up for you lot who are struggling to understand.

I can only put gear stick into gear when the engine is turn off with the clutch put down, when I turn the ignition it does not start. When the gear stick is in neutral and I start the engine it will not go into any gears.

does clutch pedal feel ok , clutch reservoir full

The clutch feels fine, has pressure on it.

Sounds like friction plate stuck to flywheel to me

Had the same problem last week. A bit of brute force.

With engine of put it in 1st and red leaver in neutral and push and hold clutch pedal

Start engine with clutch pedal still pressed.

Push red leaver forward with clutch pedal pressed.

Should jerk forward and free clutch.

Hope that helps.

Had this on mine hadn't been out of use long though, started up in first low box and drive round with the clutch down being 'jerky' on the throttle. Happily the revs picked up and I lost drive so the clutch had freed off, first time it happened though it was a gearbox out job, had been sitting for 18 months what a mess it was.
