Hi.
Do you have news regarding front diff and vibration?
qwert

I've been under the car, and the play at the front end of the front propshaft is still there, so it must be play in the diff not the U/J.

Symptoms are still there, so took the car to another LR independent who said that the VCU needs replacing as well as the front diff. He also said that when the VCU goes it first takes out the front left wheel bearing and then the front diff. He also said that a symptom of a duff VCU is the car pulling to the left, which mine does (slightly). However, I'm inclined not to believe him, as I've tested the VCU myself (front wheel up in the air, gearbox in neutral, handbrake on, and the wheel turns slowly in both directions if force is applied). I will do the car park test (full lock and see if the car crabs) later this week, but Jason (Mobile Land Rover Services) has already driven the car and said that the VCU feels fine.

In the meantime, I've booked Jason to come and fit a reconditioned front diff. Will post once this is done and let you know what the result is.

there should be no play in diff flange at al pinion bearings are taper roller type and run with slight preload any play means it need looking at ,it may well be possible to just rebearing diff ,or not ,viscous if seized often damages front diff ,but could well be just worn bearings through natural causes , if wheel turns stiffly while jacked up with other 3 on the ground v/c would seem okay

Update...

New front prop UJs are in place, and the front diff has been reconditioned. Whine when decelerating at low speed has now gone. Rumbling when decelerating at high speed is much better, but not gone completely. However, vibration at 45mph is still there - no better and no worse. I can also feel transmission slack at this speed (if I gently pump the accelerator). Vibration is just detectable through steering wheel.

I think I can rule out the tyres (changed recently), wheel bearings and rear prop UJs (checked recently). The VCU has also been checked several times.

Should I be looking at transfer box?
