My beast is an E reg (1988) 110 which originally had a petrol engine. It has no ABS.
I've been overhauling the front braking system: new pistons, seals, and pipe work. Whilst trying to undo to flexi hoses from their lower attachment on the swivel housings, I broke the brackets which (obviously) necessitated replacement. Part numbers FRC7202 and 7203. I then bought new rigid pipe to run from the flexi hose down to the calipers. Part nunmbers NRC7799 (LH) and NRC9575 (RH). General excitement of their arrival turned to confussion and frustration when I tried to fit them: with the flexi hoses mounted in the lower brackets and the rigid caliper pipes fitteded into the calipers, the two don't align with the bracket. The rigid pipes 'terminate' about an inch away from the flexi hoses, hovering inside the boundary of the bracket's triangular base plate.
Now I could just start bending the pipe and force things into position, but I'd like to understand what has gone wrong first. Have I bought the wrong parts (checked this many times!), could my bearmach pipes be the correct code, but wrong lengths, is there a different bracket for my '88 reg? I've been doing lts of digging and drawn blanks. I'm sure I have the correct parts after talking to numerous garages and suppliers, and looking on microcat at lrparts.ru.
Thoughts anyone? Many thanks,
[Frustrated] Ben
