Hi, my name is jerry and we have a freelander 1td4 hse with just over 60,000 on the clock. Its black with beige leather and looks pretty good for a 2005 plate. Have had the car for 3 weeks and love driving it weve done cornwall in it .ive replaced the rear driveshaft mounts £32 ebay £30 labour (mate works on tanks and landrovers) had a turbo outlet hose blow coming back from Cornwall ( yes im still smiling ) now have a slight missfire at about 2000 revs and slight grey smoke so we think could be a injector going. So this baby is going in for a full diagnostic test on Monday o one more thing the secondary fuel pump seems to keep whirring so maby its that ,fingers crossed (yep still smiling ) ill keep you all posted .

hi and welcome

if u don't mind me saying there are other mods that are normally done

get the garage to also check and replace

remove and blank off the egr valve
update the crankcase breather to the better BMW type
renew the turbo filter
check the vacuum hoses , inc the ones on the turbo actuator
removed and clean the map sensor
fuel filter , make sure it's a genuine oem one

ref the fuel pump if it's replaced make sure that's also a genuine oem one

if they suspect the injectors get them to do a leak back test

ref the high pressure pump that can be just an o ring

hope that's of some use

gary

ps, dorset is a wonderful place , went as a child on holiday , then took my kids , mainly on the isle of purbeck studland , swanage , etc, if i ever had the chance would move there in a heartbeat

ur very welcome , all part of the lz family to always help

i assume you've also checked that all ur tyres are the same size and make, tread depth and the prop shaft is fitted

is urs an auto or manual , reason i ask if it's an auto the oil level check has to be done with a set procedure , been reports of some garages not knowing how to do it properly which can lead to damage to ur gearbox

Yes tyres are good and checked and everything else seems ok ill get the oil and filter changed with mick soon Cheers Gary.

Its an auto.

thks, therefore ur gearbox is called a jatco , make sure they check the level at 35 c and with the engine running

gearboxes have been damaged if not done correctly , either under or over filled

if u do a search ref , @Hippo he has done some superb technical write ups on the FL1 inc how to do the oil change for the jatco gearbox , one up wheel test , this tests the VCU

It's good to see yer still helping Freelander's and their owners. You know the saying... yer can take the person out of the Freelander...

but yer can't take the Freelander out the person. ;) :)
