I have an 07 freelander 2, it cut out on me 4 weeks ago, over the weekend I've had It looked at. Cam belt fine and was replaced 18 months ago before I bought it, crank and cam sensors replaced and still no joy it tries to fire but just puts out a high pitch moan. Any help?

hi

to me that sound like the starter motor isn't engaging , pop over to the freelander section where more will see ur post

that whirling noise before u try and start the engine sounds normal with the turbo actuator arm on self test to prevent it from sticking ??

maybe the fuel pump has failed ??

have u by any chance got the codes read

but please take no notice of me, the guys below are the wizards

@Hippo and @Nodge68

Can't be starter as its engaging engine. AA put it down to goosed battery and possibly belt going. Not that and it didn't flag any codes up

The starter sounds like it's spinning the engine. However it sounds like there's no compression.
Are you 100% sure the timing belt hasn't slipped, bending the valves.

i wasn't sure , but knew u would know more, just sounds really weird like it's really weak if that makes sense

is that a td4 2.2 engine in that

wondered if it could be the fuel pump, considering it cut out

also the noise at the beginning , is that the same as the d3 when it motors the turbo actuator arm over

would have thought dtcs would have been logged??

Manual box

only thing i can think of is to get a diagnostic reader plugged in , to at least give u an indication of what's wrong

as it all of a sudden cut out , has the fuel been tested to ensure there's no water in it , surely an error code would have been logged ??

know that's not much help to u

Had errors read now, nothing comes up, it's had new starter motor and still nothing! Can the dmf or clutch stop it? Do they have sensors?

if that's the case with no faults coming up have they done live data on the sensors , i.e. cooling ,sensor etc, there are a lot of sensors with the modern landies

but @Nodge68 is considerably more knowledgeable than i am
