I recently changed the fuel filter on discovery 300tdi,
found what i thought was the priming lever/pump, and tried to bleed the fuel system. It didn't really do anything.
My next move was to start the car and , so i thought, bleed the system at the filter with the engine running, seemed to make sense, bubbles gone from fuel i then tightened bleed screw. Maybe two weeks ago i did this, i then filled up tank with high grade diesel, clean it all out, anal, blah de blah, thoughts of this is the way to motor right etc.(get the picture) i'm no pleb, im gonna learn. yeh right.
This week at lowish revs, maybe not low enough considering gear i'm in at time(usually2nd or 3rd) can feel a bit lumpy.
Do you think i've still got air in it?
Any prompts on this bleeding business.

Thanks.

its a self bleed sysem on the disco so you shouldnt really have any probs. if the priming lever does **** all, its because its off the crank, rotate the engine by hand and try again ;)

great,
cheers i'll give that a go,
is there any way i can 'tune; a diesel engine, just to increase the revs a bit and it's guts as i pull a way, i'm gatting fed up with BMW drivers up my asre, holding thiers hands up at me, and shaking their heads.

best answer is to rig your brake lights to a press switch on the dash.. when they sit behind you with their arms in the air and their headlights on etc press the switch... they soon back off...

and remember, they are driving a tonne of alu, you are driving a tonne of steel chassis with another tonne of body on top... if they ram you up the ass it aint gonna hurt you...
