Hoping to buy a lovely disco. (It's an ES - don't really want all that electric stuff - too much to go wrong- but the engine and chassis and body coondition on this one are great)

Anyway, it has air bags. Now on my ffff Ford, when you first turn on the ignition, if the airbag light comes on, then all is well and you know the airbag is A OK.

Does such a thing exist on the disco? Having just searched for past threads, I found out that airbags should be replaced every 10 years (at a cost of over a grand each!!!!!)

So I'd like to know that the ones on the disco I'm about to buy at least work for now.

And there's no way I can afford to replace them every 10 years - just leaving them simply means they might not work, yeah? They're not likely to come out ant eat you just coz they're out of date are they?

Cheers.

airbags will never just go off whilst driving. the worst they can do is not go off when you crash

If it's a disco 2 then the dash shows SRS in red top right of dash when you turn on the ignition, then goes out after you start (and in my case comes on again sometimes for no apparent reason).

How much internal 'testing' is done during this cycle I have no idea, probably just the basic - not tripped and everything there / intact.

Discovery 1's I'm afarid I don't know the warning lights on sorry, over to someone else.......
