Hello I have a 200tdi defender with 166000 miles on the clock, the engine oil level is slowly increasing, I assume it is diesel getting into the oil, but where?
Any body come across this before?

Thanks

go and introduce yourself bud,it is considered polite on here before you start asking for help.;);)

Most probebly injection pump into timing case
Does the dip stick smell of diesel

Does it run cold too ie no thermoset.could have glazed bores

Not personally, but with some engines it's a known problem when seals/gaskets start to go.
WELCOME!

Have a look in the defender section - someone will no doubt have documented the problem and a repair.

Diff.

lift pumps obvious thing to look at first should have a tell tale hole on underside to stop diesel leaking into engine ,but doesnt allways means it does, fueling issue would have other symptoms like smoke ,heavy breathing etc

Are you using veg oil in it???
Only asking as some engines have a problem with the rings gumming up and sticking in the piston allowing fuel past into the sump.
Just a thought!

Welcome to the madhouse btw :welcome:

Thanks for that.
I will check the dipstick for smell.
It seems to run ok the heater takes a while to warm up and it is not exactly overpowering.

I will have a go at that first as it seems a fairly straight forward and reasonably cheap part to change

No just diesel, though I have not had it that long so I am not sure about the guy before.
