Hi all. My 2006 Defender had a full axle rebuild around 4 years ago and has done little mileage since. The left side has cracked and blown the dust cap, and is now leaking oil on both the front and rear of the wheel (suspecting its a hub oil seal which I will confirm over the weekend). The right side has started leaking from the bottom swivel pin and onto the brake disk, even splashing on the inner arch lining whilst driving. It is oil rather than one shot grease and the axle oil level has remained the same (the breather is also not blocked).

Any idea what it could be? It is a bit frustrating having done so little miles since the rebuild.

Hub seal leaking onto the disc and backing plate then dripping off the lower swivel pin ?
Oil in swivel rather than grease?
Regardless of that best not drive it with it on your brake disc.

That’s blown the hub seals.

Check your breather pipe on the axle to see if it’s blocked . Check the bolt itself as well.
I know you say you checked them, can you blow through the pipe?

It’s unusual for the seals to go.unless you had cheap ones fitted and they gone brittle with lack of use
