Having owned the 110 now for 4 months with no hiccups...just now, driving home from a family easter meal with the family...landy just cut out  and stopped! then started again :) on the key, and continued on its way again! Any quick pointers to what it could have been?
Thanks in advance

Weird - very

When you say 'cut out' did it die immdiately, or cough and splutter first?

As it restarted wonder if sediment in the fuel tank that got sucked up - what was the fuel level when this happened?

Other thought is electrical - really don't know but guessing checking the stop solenoid? Really a wild guess that one so ready to be shot down.

Disconcerting though so need to trace

Does it have an immobiliser fitted? If yes, is it a 2 button immobiliser?

if it was that sudden to stop and start would have to be electrical ,poor ign switch ,stop solenoid contact etc

Thanks for the advice guys. I did fit a 'secret' switch to my solenoid the other week. Am thinking that I need to check my connections. Plenty of fuel as just added a few litres this morning. Did not splutter or anything just cut out suddenly.

my brother had a secret kill switch on his gte nightmare caused more prob's than it's worth

Just to close this thread for future reference. It was a lack of fuel... not my secret kill switch!....I had replaced my fuel sender a week or so ago..and thought it was working OK..it was not..it must have been stuck inside the tank as did not drop below 1/3 full on the gauge..I had to remove it again..wiggled it until it found its locating pins and the gauge fell to zero..put some dooozel and all OK again.....:p
DER  its a fair old learning game this defender owning it is!..but quite a sense of achievement when something goes right

Glad you fixed it - unusual for it to stop dead without gasping and spluttering first - you must have a fantastic lift pump:D

Fair shout Bluehaze - i wouldn't (and didn't) go for fuel from the description!

That said, on rereading my first post, I may have hedged my bets:D

Had me completely confused as well as it did just die all of sudden. Started again and actually did another 3 miles home OK as well! Had just come up a hill when it died...and the last three miles were all on the flat. When I drained the system to correct the fuel sender it drained 1 1/2 litres into my dooozal bucket.
What is the inside of the tank like? does it have loads of baffles etc

My tank has 2-3 litres inside when it stops flowing - I too ran out of fuel when we first got the landy, and the gauge still read over 1/4 tank full!

I have recently just changed my sender as well and it works when out of the tank but when I put it in the tank it reads empty, or changes between empty and half full. I am guessing I haven't got it located within the pins you have mentioned above. How do I tell when it is correctly seated? (other than repeatedly changing the amount of fuel in the tank and driving lots of miles.) Any help greatly appreciated.

Mark,
Have PM you, however, I just kept trying, 3rd attempt located correctly...just added 10 litres at a time to test gauge...I have not tightened up my locking collar enough however as am dropping spots of dooozal over my driveway! not happy as will need to take wheel off again and tighten again...
