Does anyone know if all 14cux ECU's are the same??

I have one from and 94 disco and want to know i it would go straight in my 1990 RRC??

See if you can get one from US with the built in fault code reader

ive already got it , just wanted to check it would work if I needed it.

I take it the ecu itself did not differ if cats or no cats were fitted?

The value of the tune resistor in the loom about 9-12" from the ecu plug is what makes the ecu look for oxy sensors or not.
As long as the ecu is from a 3.9 you should be fine,the fuel map might be a bit rich if you use one from a 4.2.

thats great , I now have a spare I hope I will never need!

It was 3.9 disco so it should be ok for me fuel map
