Hi All
1996 P38 HSE 4.6 GEMS.
Apologies in advance, this seems a question that probably has a simple answer.
How on earth do I remove the connector from the ECU?
It's an early one with the single large 35 way plug.
I do not want to force it, maybe it is just difficult to get to.
Thanks
James

I don't know if this is any help as mine is a RRC V8 with the ECU under the driver's seat, accessible from the rear after sliding the seat fully forwards.

First pull the multi-pin plug free at the end where the lead attaches & swing the plug outwards, the other end will then disengage. To replace .. hook the plug into the RH side of the ECU first, then swing it left & the rest of the pins will/should locate into the ECU.

'Whoops, just re-read your text & realised you're talking about ABS, not the main ECU .. sorry

It is up behind the glovebox. There's a trim panel under the glovebox that has those weird ribbed plastic nails with washers. Pull them out and it should be visible underneath.

I cannot remember what I did now but I think it just screws to the bulkhead with two screws. By the time it is in your hands it will hopefully be obvious. It might have a sort of metal lever with a screw at one end that detaches the lead or it might just unclip. I don't remember it being hard though.
