Good evening,

Today I had the sump off on our 2.5DSE auto P38 in an attempt to cure a gasket leak, however now I have a much bigger leak on my hands due to an improper install of the dipstick tube? The way I removed it was to just pull it out, I didnt see an o ring on it, but after refitting it has left a big puddle in the yard.

Now, with the sump in place, does anyone know what is the correct way to collect the old o ring and replace it? The dipstick tube did fit back in quite snug so I assumed all was fine and the o ring must be there, but the puddle and the constant dripping say otherwise.

All results I find online are of oil squirting out of the tube with engine on. Mine leaks down at the sump with engine off.

Many thanks,
Matt

I have no idea what it looks like on the diesel but just take the dipstick tube with you to a hydrolic shop and ask them for a viton o-ring.
If you just use a normal rubber oring it will swell with time and probably start leaking agin with a few weeks.
