Hello. The dipstick tube on my Defender 200tdi has become loose and can be pushed into the sump and pulled back out quite easily. In order to get an accurate oil level reading I need to work out the correct length the tube should be. Google AI seems to think it should be 29.5cm from the bottom of the tube to the top. Can anyone please confirm this? Also should I be measuring from the top of the nut it passes through or from the engine block?
Thank you.

Do an oil change & put the correct amount of oil in then reset the dipstick. :)

Thank you. It’s only recently had an oil change so I’d rather not do it again if possible. But if that’s the only way I can be sure then that’s what I’ll have to do. I was hoping someone might be able to put a tape measure on one…

Then id drain it into a super clean container, measure the quantity & re-use your new oil. Ive got a 200tdi but its out a disco
& there is a litre more in that compared to the defender iirc. Someone might come along soon..
