It is a P38  my 2.5.

thought the red thing was standard?

Wires around the side with an orange fuse on front is my EAS patch, puts it in constant manual mode and makes passengers wary of the blinky lights.

Not sure if red box is airbag related?

You can get the tree pin things out carefully without breaking. Cut a notch in something flat and plastic, or get a trim removal tool. I just wangle them out so few are broken.

The Red box is not a standard part on the P38.

Might be EAS related. Thought the bypass kit fitted the other side but maybe not.

Difficult to do an EAS bypass on the BECM:rolleyes: and it does not involve a relay. It's possibly to do with an aftermarket alarm.
It can’t be that difficult if I did it? ;)
Nothing to do with that red box. Il have a look where it goes next chance I get

Two wires and a fuse is all it is really with a few connectors. Needs to be correct wires or you are screwed though.

Some of the things I’ve found on this vehicle suggests some of the previous mechies weren’t the best. Depends what system you work on.

An unsurpressed relay can generate voltage spikes of up to 900 volts, not a good idea to put next to the BECM, could cause havoc.

Could the redbox be something to do with extra lights? Relatively sure my P38 has had spot lamps at some point.

Did you look at the french link in Google Translate or can Mark or Datatek translate it?

Could be for spots, especially if yours has lowline BECM.

Well this is the thing... should have a low line as you know, but seem to have hi line bits ; fogs, working wonky HL wipers and washers etc.
There’s two bolts on the top of the front bumper. I asked the PO what they were when he gave me the 2nd key. He said there was something wired up long time ago. Spot lights most probs.

Not seen any French link?
