I know nothing about Kindle, only the wood fire type
But can the download be read on a pc?
Does it download as a pdf?

and if you want to transfer your kindle books you paid for onto another device such as a Kobo reader then
calibre with apprentice alf plugins and your kindle serial number entered into plugin to remove DRM and change format on YOUR PURCHASED BOOKS

books need to be transferred in batches of 4 or so or the decoding plugin doesn't like it
Reason I know I my gf kindle battery has failed AGAIN and will be replaced in new year if the internal charging circuit isn't faulty
