I need to fit a Cat S5 tracker to the camper as soon as it gets off the boat and gets its MOT / UK plates.... who does everyone recommend for the new Cat S5 trackers...? Both which tracker and which companies you recommend to fit (Yorkshire / Midlands)...?
So…. Bringing it home. The market here is just not strong enough and we would lose £30-40k….. here’s the challenge.

I am £70k in total spend in the last 9 months including the 34k miles 2012 Puma 110.

I would love views as to how much it maybe should be worth in the UK market today…

Will post the current list / photos etc and you guys can help…

Here we go, gives an idea of the “stupid” level of investment I’m facing. Would love views on where this could sit ball park in Uk market today… I have zero idea been away for a decade!
It doesn’t really matter what you have spent on it in my opinion. It’s what someone is willing to pay. Your vehicle is amazing and will be very desirable, to a niche market !! Someone planning an overland adventure with loads of money might just pay what you want, who knows.

Totally agree with every point and same as here. Just trying to get a flavour of uk prices compared to Kenya

It’s a hard one to answer I think. There are people who “have always wanted a Defender” who will pay a lot of money for a shiny one with big wheels and lots of add ons and looks tough. But with no clue what they’re looking at and find out too late it’s got a rotten chassis and bulkhead. There are hundreds of people up and down the country catering for this uneducated market and selling crap. Are there any overland companies in Kenya, or anywhere else in Africa who are looking for LR’s like this already prepared for their clients ?? I would think there’s a larger market there than here for this vehicle.

Sounded a bit derogatory to be honest with underlyong suggestion of big wheel and “looks tough” but no substance.

I won’t use the same judgement and suggest you are “just pootling down to Waitrose”
In yours as I don’t know you from Adam.

I built this thing, it’s a new car. Didn’t appreciate the tone or suggestion that I’d be robbing someone with a load of money who was a bit stupid or uneducated.

Yes there’s a world of overland here hence been trying to move it here. All I was asking was the market but at this moment what I’d like to do is delete my question :)

No stress gang.

It is difficult CMR, your problem is that any car in Kenya is expensive. The new price plus the duty, even on secondhand cars means taking them elsewhere and selling them isn’t economically viable. 12M KES is £69,096 according to xe.com today, which didn’t include the money you spent on ‘labour, shipping to kenya and fitting’ according to the advert.

I think selling in Kenya would be your best bet? The UK market is unlikely to understand the lengths you have gone to with this, but people here are more likely?

The big problem is. Its what you wanted and spent a bunch of money on to get it to where you wanted/what you wanted.

Spending that sort of money is the owners choice for what they want. I dont disagree it looks like a great 110.
But you will never recoup the costs for the upgrades in a sale price, you get the value back in using it for what you built it for.

I dont know UK prices either, but I would say its in the region of less than half what you value it at, at best.

I didnt put a winch on the front on mine to recoup the purchase price of the winch (if I sell it).

Thats life i am afraid to say. Some spend it on golf clubs or boats, Or like us lot a 4x4 not heard of many making a profit on any.

Oh dear. You asked for advice and I gave you mine. There was zero suggestion your vehicle was like my description and you have posted a link showing it is a quality build and nothing like the ones I was talking about. I was trying to describe the pitfalls of the British market and what people are willing to pay for only, as that’s what you asked for. You soldier on mate 😏
