Ive got a 'check coolant level' alert, so I got a new sensor off ebay and it hasn't cured the problem.

When I plug the old sensor in and stick a magnet beside it, the fault clears.
Anyone know if the sensor is a hall effect device which is operated by a magnet on the float inside the coolant tank?
And yes, there's plenty of water and antifreeze in the tank

Looks like it is indeed a reed switch activated by a magnet on a pole
I'll give the tank a rinse and see if that helps
