Idid some serious off roading in the Disco a couple of weeks ago. Killed the rear diff and had to drive home in difflock. I've replaced the diff (planet gears knacked) but now I have a new problem.

When turning left there is a noise from the front axle, possibly drivers side. It started as a sort of clunk but has now evolved into a very loud bang, followed by a grinding noise. The grinding noise stops when I use the clutch and then accelerate. Then the Disco is fine for a while and then it happens again!

To my mind its like the transmission winding up in diff lock but I'm not driving it with the diff locked anymore - the transfer lever is to the right and the diff lock light is out.

Any ideas?
