driving along today doing 60mph when the bonnet catch seemed to fail and the bonnet flung up scaring the shiit out of me.

slammed on the anchors and put it in the grass verge,its proper fooked the bonnet and top spotlights but the snorkel was unharmed,wipers are bent as is the lower panel below windscreen

lucky i had some ratchet straps on so managed to strap it down.

pretty scary experience tho

Aye this happened to me on the A1 once, windy, doing about 70...

Thought about getting some of those aerocatch things because I've noticed ever since (well, before I got rid of the disco) that the bonnet would flutter up and down at speed. They look pretty good if you can be bothered getting them as well as the replacement bonnet!

tis fooking scary, few years back i had a hire van and had a smash the first day i had it, tied the bonnet down and continued with the delivery,s going down the m23 in the outside lane at 70 and the rope let go and the bonnet flew up and smashed the window screen and dented all the roof was scary as fook, but the best bit was when i returned the hire van that eve to the hire company, as it was brand new when they gave it to me, their faces when the saw it was classic never forget that day

jesus - my bonnet kept popping open but didnt slame open. all i can assume is the weight of the bonnet on the fender didnt let it lift!

glad it wasnt too bad pal!

Im glad I fitted bonnet pins to mine now. I've got a light pod fitted,wouldnt want that saying hello. Glad you made it out safe.

Happened to me in a Ford Cortina in the fast lane on the M6. Well scary when suddenly you can see nothing - the Cortina bonnet was the full width of the car. Mind you in those days the M6 was pretty deserted!.

mine wobbled badly when its windy on the motorway so brought myself some of these just incase... had mates that its happened too and I don't fancy experiencing it!

more like the fender wont go fast enough to get the air pressure under it

I put bonnet pins on my disco as I hit a tree on a pay and play and the bonnet didn't want to shut 100% on the main catch, also the catch kept sticking with all the mud so I ripped that out and just had pins and saftey catch...

Frightening eh..
I had that happen to me when prod racing in a corsa once. I smashed into the back of another (parked up) car..
