Well, it's *supposed* to be a better lubricant and a cleaner fuel. So in theory at least, the engine should last longer.
Anyway, yes, a cetane enhancer is what I'm looking for. Although I'm not looking that hard since although it is less efficient, it is also cheaper!

that is what it does, I use it here on pump diesel, ours is 10- 20% veg and 80-90% diesel, depends where you buy. Works great on complaints. Use it mostly in winter 5-6 months for easier starts.
Our veggie oil is close to twice what you guys are even with the exchange rate
