Is there anything i should change/renew before hitting the muddy stuff? I have done the following.

  1. 2" lift springs with + 5 inch shocks
  2. Extended brake and bump stops
  3. steering guard
  4. snorkel
  5. 265 75 16 insa turbo special track's
  6. camel cut/triming stuff.
  7. new donut
  8. removed anti roll bars
However is there anything I should change that normally break once you take a disco off road ie bush's/joints etc??

Thanks :)

Learn to drive off road. Either go with a groupe. Or go to a pay and play day if you want to go solo at least then there will be help if it all goes wrong.

No I wont be going solo done that once before in my sj and had to walk over a mile to get signal on my phone before i could call someone to come rescue me!

It really doesn't matter how tricked up your vehicle is there is no substitute for experience.
1st low gear for steep descents
2nd low to climb hills.
Gentle throttle through mud etc, when you loose traction back off the throttle and let the insa turbos grip.

Get another donut in stock ready for when that 1 gives up. Even if it new,if your cross axling alot it will kill it.

Im pretty good at driving off road never really got stuck in my SJ and only broke 1 shaft the whole time i had it. But i was wondering if the disco's where prone for stuff breaking? like trailering arm bush's? or rear diff centre bearing bush thing etc

I'll be looking out for an SJ or a Jimny for when my lad can touch the pedals.

Is there anything I should know about them for laning etc?

umm try get one with an su carb as the standard carb's are crap when you show them some dust/mud. I never liked the SPOA or spring over axle conversion as i found it to unstable. also avoid lift shackles that stick down like ladders they dig in and can bend the springs. RUST! behind seat's, boot floor, wheel arches front and rear prettty much check everywhere as any rust is going to be an MOT failure due to them being small the rust is going to be near either a body mount or seat belt ancour. also worth check the bottomend is not knocking, mine did for just over a year mind before it finally blow up!

The donuts aren't that ****e. Mines been on 4 years now with a lift and lots of off roading and still going strong. I've had to replace the ujs more
Often... Do the +5in shocks not bottom out?

I must be unlucky with mine.Last 1 had a month driving on road and a pay and play at tidworth killed it. The 1 before that lasted 3 trials.Roll on pay day when I can retro fit the 200 prop.

Must admit a couple of my muddy mates have all changed from 300 props to 200 just to eliminate the donut problem,if u r lucky it will last ages but most people I know that had them, havnt anymore lol
200 prop all the way : )
