hhhmmm, big ends I can do, if I have to go down the crank grind and oil pump route it's out of my ability, might either have to be a new engine or a cheap P38 for sale
Big ends usually go because the main bearings leak oil out through wear and starve the big ends of oil. Mains usually go because of lack of oil pressure. It's a vicious circle unfortunately.

Might be easier to drop another lump in then take your time and re build the old one to a nice speck.
Yes private sale. I drove it for 30mins before I bought it, drove perfectly not knocks rattles or anything, tested the suspension, LPG/Petrol switchover, air con all good, no warning lights, lots of documentation, all previous MOT's etc, ticked all the right boxes.
At the end of the day it was sold as seen, and what I saw looked ok. There doesn't much point chaseing the seller just got to decide what to do with the old girl now

Yeah l guess.
My friend bought a Mini with a similar problem, seller had filled the engine with gearbox oil.
She went through trading standards and all the solicitors letters etc and got nowhere, it just dragged on and on with no progress.
lt depends on how bothered you are about it, obviously she was not able to go round and demand her money back from the seller being a girl.
l always budget £1,000 for repairs on any used vehicle l buy and it usually gets spent pretty quickly.

With LPG it will be just as easy as any other engine swap....only thing is to either swap over the intake manifold from the original engine that has been drilled to accept the gas injectors/pipes, or mod the new one to accept them.
Other than that, simple pimple as the new engine will reuse the existing wiring harness, ECU, etc.

UPDATE,: Just thought i'd let you know the progress.
I have done the big ends, look as though they had been done very recently, chap that sold me the RR must have done it to try and cover the f*cked crank! Lasted about 10 mins before sounding bad again.
So........
I'm going down the replacement engine route.
Has anyone got a step by step process on how to do this, any real gotcha's I need to worry about, or is it just a case of slow and methodical?

Why don't you remove the engine,have the crank reground and fit new shell's ? Change the oil pump as well
