Had the lights flashing on the grarbox twice in the past year but turning the engine off and restarting cured this.

Today i tried to select reverse but the indication light didnt come on and neither did it engage reverse. I checked all gears and although it went into drive ok it didnt light up until a few seconds of driving. Also i can now with a little force move the gear lever through drive revers neutral and park without having to press the button on the lever. Any ideas?

you need to have a look at the lever for the button issue, there is a pawl that slots into a castellated gate ,released by pressing the button on lever , you can remove the plastic cover and check why its sticking or if at pawl end, lights might be improved by having a look at xyz switch contact can wear or could be damp,situated on lhs of box were cable operates
