my 300tdi 1995 disco drivers door when opening and closing actuator makes continous clicking noise like a machine gun. still locks and unlocks door, told by a mechanic that if changed need to reprogramme as it a master to all other doors, is this true, if so where do i get one and who reprog. or if not can antone advise where to get one. have taken door card off and tried to adjust but makes no diffrence.

make sure that the locking mechanism in the door is not stiff to operate as this can cause the solonoid to do this

all seems ok looks like actuator has fault is there any truth that if replaced need to reprog. new one so it works all central locking and alarm system

No programming required. You can get a master actuator to replace your faulty on at Maplin although you will have to cut and rejoin wires.

thanks for the help, take it maplin will know what to supply if i ask for a master actuator or do i need some sort of part no.

5w w = wire 2 wire are slaves which all the other doors are the master also has electrical contacts, the Maplin page also has more info on the wiring circuit.
BUT if you have the door card off try moving the operating rod with your finger at the same time as pressing the fob button, if it all works the ok then it's just a slight adjustment required of the actuator mounting, only a few mmetre so undo the mounting screws and move slightly. May work.
