I am fed up with my ignition on the 93 LSE, I had it replaced a couple of years ago, and it is playing up again... when I put the key in, it only works one way around, and then not always, it can take up to 10 / 15 mins to get it work, yet other times it is instant
I would like to replace steering lock / ignition system with a switch / button system...
e.g. lift a cover and flick a switch
then push button to start.
push button again to stop...
not sure how feasible this is, or whether people have done it, I assume that it must be straight forward as this is the approach taken with racing cars etc...
I have found loads on the internet about having a push button to replace the last stage of turning the key, but as I have no problem doing that when I can do the first stages, and can do no stage when I have problems, this will not help...
I would like to totally replace the ignition system...
how would it work with the alarm?
would there be an issue with insurers seeing it as easier to steal (though not sure whey anyone would wish to steal it, and no different to hot-wiring it)...
and anyway, I already have a cut off switch on the bonnet which isolates the battery totally...
