hi i have a 1996 p38 4.6 HSe range rover ,it was going fine i drove it to my work then when i was leaving it would not start all the lights are on the dash but there is nothing when i turn the key not even a click fron the starter , thought the starter was gone so i put a new one in but still nothing ,got a sparkie out and he said it might be the fuse box , so i got another 1 out of a running p38 but still nothing . ive put in the 4 didget sec code but still nothing is happening .

any help would be great

if you are not getting the keycode message on the dash and engine disabled i would say try a known good battery!!!
 
If its not the battery, check earthing points, to the engine in the first instance, and then the ECUs.

is there anychance of you fellas putting in your location so members can give names/numbers of people able to help in the area??

Hello gary , how you getting on with your rr any luck getting it running???
mine has the same problem as yours , its going in tomorrow to be plugged in to diagnostics , i,ve spent a good 3 day doing research on web, and hope fully if im correct the ecu has lost security link , which needs to be re learnt, to plug into machiene is 55 plus vat, and only takes around 5 minuites to sort out , im taking mine to dakar motors in the dartford area , fingers crossed its just that , ill up date you soon as i know .

Hello dj b4l, yes got mine all sorted, it did need to be re coded , 2 min job then back on the road, whats the problem with yours? Rob

hi mate im in kent near dartford crossing i have had mine on a comp and ni errors are showing up mine with carb cleaner in the intake other wise it doest start

once you get it started you can drive it just about you can rev only up to 2k no more as the engine starts to pull back and wants to stall if you take your foot off it idles normal

when you try to rev over 2k it just pops
