MY BATTERY LIGHT ON MY 1993 TDI STAYS ON WHEN I TURN OFF THE IGNITION WHEN YOU SWITCH ON AND START UP IT GOES OFF AND THE DISCO WORKS FINE ANY IDEAS

It will be either the alternator has packed up or the negative chassis cable has lost a good conductor, rusted or broken off.

So it goes out when the engine is on, thats fine, that means its charging, so when you turn off the ignition, and take the key out its still on?

When you turn the key two clicks, the oil and battery light should come on and stay on, going out only, if you switch everything off, or turn on the engine and everythings working.

get yer alternaror tested, this is how mine started abd then it wouldn't start one day, i needed a new alternator
