Hi to all, am new here and am looking for some help! My Disco seems to have lost reverse gear... Ideally I'm after a Manual or exploded Diagram on the box so I can work out whats wrong!

Thanks!

What is happening?

Can you not select it (detent springs and plungers?), can you get in it just doesnt go anywhere?

Can you give us any clues?

Does the lever go across the gate so that it goes left of 1st-2nd but then fail to go foward into reverse?

Or does it not even go through the gate at all, thus not going left of the 1st - 2nd line?

I expect you'll see where we are going here.

With any luck you may have a gunge and grot problem in the detents and interlocks on the top of the gearbox. Easy to fix compared mto the insides of the box.

Fingers crossed!

The lever goes into the correct spot, I've had the linkage out and all appears to go in the correct place but the shaft doesn't engage reverse. I get the feeling it's something further into the box......

This is a FOUR RAIL gearbox, that is, there are FOUR selector rods,

Reverse - 1/2 - 3/4 - 5

The reverse selector rod is on the RIGHT of the others.

When you had it opened up did you manage to check if the actual selector lever and fork moved?

There's a chance that a small pointed screw has come loose (or dropped out) which means no drive between the selector and the rod, and that equals no reverse.

Once I find a drawing we can do more. Don't despair yet!
