Hi guys.
I have just recent bought a defender 90 TD5.
I was driving it yesterday, and it was smoking out of the back, a lot. Pulled out and when to turn it off, but it wouldn’t and kept over reving. After about 5 minutes it shut. Had a look this morning and can see the turbo has gone on it.
Do you reckon it will need a new engine or just a turbo?

How much was it revving?

But sounds like you had a runaway engine.

It wasn’t red line probably only about 2500/3000... checked the turbo and that has definitely gone...

Probably good with just a Turbo, as long as it didnt over rev then stop.

No, small amount on the dip stick, but not much at all
