I find the wifes car an jump leads is about the bestest.

Well , bit of a panic just now, battery is on charge after dying on me this morning, i really haven't got time to get to the bottom of the why's and wherefore's as i'm of down sarf this weekend to visit me sister.
so i thought get hold of one sharpish just in case it dies on me again.

just buy another battery and a decent set of jump leads.
unless you pay big money for a proper boost starter, you're wasting your time.

several weeks if it's a new battery, fully charged to start with, and not connected to anything.

it's a doozel landy yer tryin ter start, not a fookin petrol fiesta.
and if yer want to do it 2 or 3 times between re-charging yer booster.....

Aye you're right of course. sooner I get to the bottom of this the better.
Only bought the battery in january, tested both battery and alternator today, alternator seems fine and the battery seems to just need either a good run or charging overnight, but after just 4 months??? wierd.
i drive around 30 mile a day no stop start either. can't work it out.

do as the nice man told you and spend your £80 ish on a replacement battery fer yer landy, a set of proper jump leads and cheapo plastic box from BnQ to keep it all in

afore you fitted the battery how many days did you have it on trickle charge for?

the old battery was as flat as fook, so I just went and bought a new one fitted it and went to work next day with me fingers crossed.

best get another battery to put on vehicle, whilst that one is on, fully charge up the other as an alternator will never charge the battery up to full power

I suspect you were thinking of something more like this

Clarke - Heavy Duty Jump Start 4000 - Battery Chargers & Engine Starters - Machine Mart

I've used them (not the one shown here) and they're brilliant, when they work. I've used the cheapys, about £25 and they haven't lasted. I suspect you have to get a better one, probably paying around £100.
If you have access to mains,I have used the "RAC" starter/charger from Argus. Stared a V8 Classic from totally flat (no warning lights) BUT the instructions say use for 10 seconds then leave for several minutes, so probably only work if a flat battery is your only problem.
