Freelander 1 t4 when towing up hills struggles and then engine over revs untill drop down gears its like its not in gear any ideas

When I drop down gears its fine it seems like loss of power when it comes to hills

If the revs climb, but the road speed doesn't, then the clutch is worn, and unable to transfer sufficient torque in the higher gear. Dropping the gear reduces the torque the clutch is required to transfer, so it doesn't slip.

Yeah sounds like you need a new clutch
