Undersealing my range rover and got a surprise. Me thinks the garage that charged £300 Labour to replace the pins on the clutch arm may have taken a small shortcut :/

Only had it 2 weeks, but have a receipt in paperwork from December from a 'land rover specialist' but for all I know for some reason it could have been done after :(

Wow, I mean just wow .... Has it got cut marks on the edges like it's been done with an angle grinder or is it splintered like something has whacked it?

Would have thought it was something you might notice on a cursory examination before purchase tbh...........

Cheers

Checked chassis but can't say that checking holes in gearbox comes into my inspection list.

Rest of the truck is in really good condition, genuinely looks like it's been looked after. Has been cut with an angle grider, can see the mark just to the right of the hole.

Cut it out to get to the fork that disengages the clutch. Save time taking box out but still charge for thinking about it!

That's impressive isn't it, the least they could have done was drilled the bell housing and put a plate with captive nuts on in there and bolted the bit back in and smeared a bit of black silicone around it, you'd never have noticed then would you :p

Hate to see what your going to use for a wading plug.

On dry land it's an air cooled clutch and when he goes wading he's got a water cooled clutch

Should really keep quiet about it, he might have to pay more if they find out he knows about the limited edition not so optional extra

Are those cut marks still clean metal, if so it wasn't done that long ago. Also do the bell housing bolts look like they have been off recently? If the answer is yes to the first and no to the second then I think we can have a good guess at what happened in the garage!
